Youth Baseball Jerseys

Item CBJ-YOUTH · Made to order
From $32.99per piece · names & numbers included · 10-piece minimum

Youth jerseys are cut on a kids' pattern rather than scaled down from adult sizes, so the shoulders sit right and the body is not too long on an eight-year-old. Same fabric, same sublimation, and names and numbers are included from $32.99. Coaches of Little League, PONY and 8U–14U travel teams order from this page.

Youth sizing that actually fits

A scaled-down adult jersey is a common problem in youth ball. The chest fits, but the body hangs to mid-thigh and the sleeves reach the elbow. Our youth pattern is drawn for a child's proportions instead.

Players at 13 and 14 often move into adult S. Mixed youth and adult sizes in one order are normal for a 12U or 14U roster.

Measure around the chest at the fullest point with arms relaxed. If a player sits between sizes, go up one, because kids grow during the season.

Sleeves are proportioned for kids too, so they do not flap around the elbow when a young player throws. That matters most for the smallest sizes.

Collecting sizes without the chaos

Sizing a youth roster is where most orders slow down. Parents guess, kids are not around to measure, and someone always says their child is a medium in everything.

A simple process avoids most of the swaps after delivery. Our full baseball uniform size chart has the numbers to send to parents.

Number choices cause as much back-and-forth as sizes. Let players pick a first and second choice, and settle duplicates by age or seniority before the deadline.

  1. Send parents the size chart and ask for a chest measurement, not a guess.
  2. Collect sizes, names and number choices on one sheet with a hard deadline.
  3. Check for duplicate numbers before you send the roster to us.
  4. Order one size up for any player who is close to the top of a range.
  5. Add one or two spares in the most common sizes for late sign-ups.

Choosing a front style for young players

Six buttons are slow for small hands. A V-neck or two-button pullover goes on in seconds and still looks like a real baseball jersey.

Two-button jerseys keep the traditional placket at the collar, which many coaches prefer for photos. The two-button baseball jersey page shows the collar and placket details.

Full-button youth jerseys are available too. They suit 12U and up, where players handle buttons fine and want the look of the older teams.

Mixing fronts within one team is possible but rarely a good idea. A coach jersey in full-button over a team in V-necks is the one combination that usually works.

  • V-neck: fastest on and off, no buttons at all
  • Two-button: a short placket, pulls over the head
  • Crew: simplest collar, popular for 6U and 8U
  • Full-button: the traditional look, best for older kids

Design choices that work on small jerseys

A youth back is smaller, so busy designs crowd fast. The best youth jerseys keep to two or three colors and let the number do the work.

Raglan sleeves in a second color make a jersey look sharp without a complicated design. Names on the back help grandparents find their player from the bleachers.

Back numbers on a YS jersey are smaller than on an adult jersey. We size them to the back panel on the proof, so a 6U player's number still reads from the dugout.

Light jerseys show dirt, and youth players slide into everything. Grey bodies hide infield dust better than white, which matters when the jersey gets one wash between doubleheaders.

  • Two-color raglan sleeves for an easy, sharp look
  • Bold block numbers rather than thin script
  • Short team names, or a logo instead of a long wordmark
  • Sponsor logo on the sleeve or lower back, kept clear of the number

Little League, PONY and recreation leagues

Most recreation leagues buy jerseys team by team, with each team in a different color. A league can put every team in one order, which counts toward one discount tier.

Leagues have their own rules on numbers, patches and sponsor placement. Read the Little League uniform rules guide before you finalize the design.

A league ordering eight teams in eight colors can review every team's design on the proof. One board member approves, and one PayPal invoice covers the whole order.

Number rules are the most common snag. Many leagues want numbers on the back only, in a set height range, with no duplicates on a team.

PONY and other youth leagues follow their own rulebooks. The safe default is a large, plain back number with sponsor logos kept well away from it. Ask your league office for the current rule sheet before the proof stage, since rules change between seasons.

Travel ball rosters from 8U to 14U

Travel teams usually want two or three jerseys per player: home, away and an alternate. Each jersey style counts toward the same cart total, so three jerseys for a 12-player roster put 36 pieces in the cart.

Travel rosters change more than rec rosters. Order a spare or two and keep the artwork on file for mid-season additions.

Matching pants and socks make a travel team look organized at a tournament check-in. Our travel ball uniform sets pair jerseys and pants for teams that play every weekend.

Summer tournaments run long. Many travel coaches pick a lighter body color for the away jersey. A white or grey jersey stays cooler than navy in the afternoon sun.

Price per youth jersey

Youth jerseys cost the same as adult jerseys. Names, numbers, team logo and sponsor marks are included, with no setup or per-color fees.

The discount counts every piece in the cart, so adding coaches' jerseys or pants moves the whole order up a tier.

Leagues that want to price jersey and pants per player for every team can compare our Little League uniform packages, which bundle both pieces.

For a parent letter, the easy math is the per-jersey price at your tier. A 13-player team at $31.34 per jersey comes to $407.42 for the roster.

Jerseys and pants together

If you need pants as well, the youth baseball uniforms page bundles the jersey with matching pants at a set price per player.

Buying a set is simpler for team parents. One price per player is easier to collect than a jersey price plus a pant price.

Jersey-only orders make sense when players already own pants. Many rec leagues let families buy grey or white pants anywhere, and the team only orders matching tops.

If you do order pants later, keep a note of the jersey colors and trim. Matching a stripe to the jersey is easy when the original artwork is on file.

Fabric and care for kids' jerseys

Youth jerseys use the same 160 gsm polyester interlock as our adult jerseys. The color is sublimated into the fiber, so nothing cracks or peels when the jersey goes through the wash twice a week.

Wash cold and tumble low or hang dry. Pre-treat grass and dirt with a stain remover before washing, not after.

Avoid fabric softener and bleach. Both are hard on polyester and dull the colors over time.

The fabric dries fast, so a jersey washed at night is ready for a morning game. Our baseball jersey fabric guide explains how it compares with the lighter mesh options.

Write the player's name on the inside tag with a laundry marker. Twelve identical YM jerseys in one dugout get mixed up fast.

Common youth order mistakes

Youth orders have more moving parts than adult ones, because the people paying are not the people wearing the jersey. These mistakes show up most.

Most of these are fixed with one extra day of planning. Send the roster when it is truly final, not when most of it is done.

  • Ordering by age instead of by chest measurement
  • Sizing down because the jersey looks big on the hanger
  • Leaving off the spare jerseys and needing a second 10-piece order mid-season
  • Two players with the same number on one team
  • Long names on YS jerseys, where they need to shrink to fit

Timeline before opening day

The proof arrives in 1–2 business days, with unlimited revisions. Production takes 2–3 weeks after the proof is approved and the PayPal invoice is paid.

Free ground shipping takes 2–5 business days, or 2–4 inside California. Order 4–5 weeks before opening day so there is time to swap a size.

If you want to sketch colors first, try Design Your Jerseys and send the result with your roster.

Picture day is the date to watch. Many leagues hold team photos in the first two weeks, and a player without a jersey is the one parents remember.
