Baseball Practice Shirts
Practice shirts are the top players wear most: three practices a week, cage sessions and pre-game warm-ups. These are a 130 gsm micro-mesh or 150 gsm interlock crew or V-neck with your logo on the chest and an optional number on the back. The price lets a program buy two per player.

What a practice shirt has to survive
A game jersey gets worn twice a week and treated with some care. A practice shirt gets thrown in a bat bag wet, worn to school under a hoodie and washed every other day.
That is why these are a separate product. They are lighter than a game jersey, they have no buttons to lose, and the print is inside the fiber, so daily washing will not crack a logo.
Players also sweat through them faster. Lighter fabric dries between the first round of batting practice and the second, which matters in an August heat wave in the Central Valley.
Fit is a little looser than a game jersey too. Players need room to throw, and a practice shirt often goes over a compression layer or under a pullover.
Two fabrics, one price
Both fabrics print the same and cost the same, so pick by season. Teams that want an even more open knit for game day can look at our mesh baseball jerseys.
Micro-mesh breathes best, but a very fine logo line can look slightly softer on its textured face. If your logo has thin script or small lettering, interlock prints it crisper.
You can also split an order. Some clubs buy interlock for the spring season and micro-mesh for summer travel, using the same design on both.
| Fabric | Weight | Feel | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro-mesh | 130 gsm | Fine pinhole texture, very light | Summer practice, tournaments in the heat |
| Interlock | 150 gsm | Smooth face, a little more body | Spring practice, sharper small logos |
What a practice shirt carries
Most programs keep practice designs simpler than game jerseys. A clean chest logo and a number usually look better on a busy field than a full jersey layout.
Keep the chest logo a little smaller than on the game jersey. Around eight to ten inches wide on adult sizes reads well across a field without overwhelming a youth small.
- Chest logo or team name, at any size you want
- Optional back number or player name, included in the price
- Raglan sleeves in a second color, or a solid body
- Crew neck or V-neck
- A sponsor mark on the back or sleeve, also included
- Different colors per age group from one design file
Numbers or no numbers
Numbers on a practice shirt help coaches more than players. During drills and tryouts, a coach can write "14 is late on the turn" without stopping to ask a name.
Clubs that run evaluations often order numbered practice shirts in a neutral color and hand them out by roster spot. The same shirts then go to whoever makes the team.
Names are possible too, and still free. Most teams skip them on practice wear because shirts get swapped, lost and handed down.
If you do add numbers, a 6 to 8 inch back number is plenty. Large game-size numbers are rarely needed on practice wear, and smaller ones look cleaner on youth sizes.
How many per player
One shirt per player sounds enough until the third practice in a week. Two per player means one can be in the wash while the other is in the bag.
A 12-player team ordering two shirts each reaches 24 pieces. That puts every shirt at the 10% tier, so the second shirt costs less than the first one did at base price.
Coaches ordering for a whole club can add every team's practice shirts to one cart. The pieces combine, so a 60-player program lands at 15% off before jerseys are even added.
| Pieces in the cart | Discount | Price per shirt |
|---|---|---|
| 10–11 | Base price | $26.99 |
| 12–23 | 5% off | $25.64 |
| 24–47 | 10% off | $24.29 |
| 48–99 | 15% off | $22.94 |
| 100+ | 20% off | $21.59 |
Warm-ups that match the game set
Teams usually order practice shirts in the same colors as their custom baseball jerseys, so the pre-game warm-up looks like one program.
We build the practice design from your jersey file. Same logo, same colors, simpler layout. You see both side by side on the proof.
Adding two practice shirts per player to a jersey order often moves the whole cart into the 48+ tier. That lowers the jersey price as well.
A popular split is a game jersey in the team's main color and a practice shirt in the trim color. Players look like one program, and nobody confuses practice wear with the game uniform.
Practice shirt, blank jersey or jersey tee
These three get mixed up more than anything else we sell. They all start at a similar price, but they are built for different jobs.
If you want the actual game-jersey cut with nothing printed on it, that is our blank baseball jerseys page.
A quick rule: if a player is throwing in it, choose the practice shirt. If a parent is cheering in it, choose the jersey tee.
| Product | What it is | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Practice shirt | Light crew or V-neck with your logo printed | Players at practice, in the cage and warming up |
| Blank jersey | Game-jersey cut with no print | Teams adding their own lettering later |
| Jersey tee | Soft tee printed to look like a jersey | Fans, parents and booster clubs |
Ordering practice shirts
Most coaches mock up the shirt on Design Your Jerseys, or send the jersey artwork they already have. Then the steps are short.
Practice shirts can ship to more than one address at no charge. That helps a club that wants each team's box sent straight to its coach.
Sizes are youth YS to YXL and adult S to 3XL. A youth player who is about to move up an age group can size up one step, since practice shirts are meant to fit loose.
- Pick the fabric, the neck and whether the sleeves are a second color.
- Send the logo and a roster with sizes, plus numbers if you want them.
- Check the proof, which arrives in 1–2 business days. Ask for as many changes as you need.
- Approve it and pay the PayPal invoice we email. We accept PayPal.
- Shirts are made in 2–3 weeks and ship free by US ground.
For cold mornings and late nights
A short-sleeve practice shirt is not enough for a 7am Saturday practice in February. Players layer up, and it helps if the layers match.
Our long sleeve baseball shirts include a fitted undershirt that goes under a practice top. It can be printed in the same team color.
For real cold, a team hoodie goes over everything. All of these count toward the same discount tier as the practice shirts.
Order cold-weather layers in the same cart as the practice shirts. They ship together and arrive before the cold snap, not after it.
Practice shirts on travel weekends
Travel teams use practice shirts differently. They are the shirt for the hotel breakfast, the walk to the field and the cage session between games.
Many programs order a third practice shirt per player just for travel weekends, so a clean one is always in the bag. Write the player's number on the tag area, or print it on the back, so shirts come home with the right family.
If you are planning a full season of tournaments, our travel ball uniform checklist lists what each player should pack.
- Pack shirts flat in a zip bag to keep them apart from cleats.
- Hang them in the hotel bathroom after games; they dry overnight.
- Bring one more shirt per player than you have days on the road.
Care and rotation
Wash inside out in cold water and hang dry. Micro-mesh dries overnight on a hanger, which suits families washing every other day.
Do not leave a wet shirt zipped in a bat bag for a weekend. Polyester holds odor when it stays damp, even though the print will be fine.
Fabric softener is best left out. It coats polyester and slows the way the knit moves sweat, which is the whole point of a light practice shirt.
