Pinstripe Baseball Jerseys
Pinstripes are the hardest pattern to get right on a baseball jersey. That is why so many teams end up with crooked seams, or stripes that stop at the placket. We print the stripes into the fabric before cutting, align every panel on the table, and sew so the lines run through the shoulder and down the sleeve without a break.

Decoration options
Stripe options
The standard is a 1.5 mm stripe on a 20 mm repeat. From the stands it reads as a classic pinstripe.
We also print 1 mm hairlines, 3 mm chalk stripes and double stripes. The stripe can be any color: navy on white, white on navy, gold on black, or a two-tone.
Width and repeat change the mood more than color does. A hairline looks quiet and modern. A chalk stripe looks bold and old-fashioned.
Two-tone stripes alternate two colors, such as navy and red on white. They read as one stripe from a distance and as two up close, which works well on a team with three school colors.
Pinstripes are one of several patterns we print. If you are still choosing a base look, the complete list of jersey styles puts every cut and pattern on one page.
| Style | Stripe width | Repeat | Looks like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic pinstripe | 1.5 mm | 20 mm | Traditional home jersey |
| Hairline | 1 mm | 15 mm | Subtle, almost a texture |
| Chalk stripe | 3 mm | 25 mm | Bold, retro |
| Double stripe | 2 × 1 mm | 22 mm | Modern, high contrast |
Why sublimated stripes beat sewn stripes
Woven pinstripe fabric comes in three or four stock colors, and the stripes still twist at the seams.
Sublimated stripes can be any color, they never crack, and we can run them vertically on the body and the sleeves at once.
The stripe is part of the fiber, so a pinstripe jersey wears exactly like a solid one. It does not pill along the lines or lose its stripe in the wash.
The only thing left to decide is whether the stripes continue onto the sleeves or stop at a solid raglan. Both options are shown on the proof.
The base fabric is our standard 160 gsm polyester interlock. The stripe does not change its weight or feel, and our baseball jersey fabric guide explains why the knit holds a straight line better than a woven cloth.
If your team plays summer ball, the 140 gsm lighter interlock takes stripes just as cleanly. Fine 1 mm hairlines hold their edges on both weights.
How we keep the lines straight
Straight stripes depend on how the panels are cut and matched, not on the print alone. This is the order we follow on every pinstripe jersey.
Matching stripes takes longer on the cutting table than a solid jersey. It does not change the price or the 2 to 3 week production time.
The place to check on the proof is the shoulder. If the stripe on the front panel meets the stripe on the sleeve, everything else follows.
- The stripe file is set to your chosen width and repeat for each size.
- Every panel is printed with the stripe running exactly vertical on the grain.
- Panels are cut on the stripe, not on a fixed template edge.
- Front, back and sleeves are laid out together and matched at the seam lines.
- Seams are sewn so stripes meet at the shoulder and run down the sleeve.
- Each jersey is checked against the proof before folding.
Choosing the cut
Pinstripes come in crew, V-neck, two-button or full-button, all at the same price.
Full-button is the classic choice, and most high school programs pick it. Our full-button baseball jerseys page explains how the placket is cut after printing so chest lettering lines up.
Two-button and V-neck pinstripes look sharper on youth teams. The print stays unbroken across the chest, and small players get a pullover that goes on quickly.
On a full-button front, the placket itself is printed with the stripe. When the jersey is buttoned, the stripe runs across the placket without a solid gap.
Logos and numbers over stripes
Stripes compete with anything printed on top of them. A thin script logo straight on a busy stripe can lose its edges from the stands.
We usually put a solid outline, or a solid block, behind the logo and numbers. The proof shows both options so you can choose.
Our guide on designing a custom baseball jersey covers outline thickness and number sizes in more detail.
Back numbers are where this matters most. An umpire or scorekeeper has to read them from 100 feet, so we keep back numbers large and outlined on every pinstripe proof.
- Use a stripe color that is lighter than the numbers, so the numbers win
- Add a 2 to 3 mm outline around script and block letters
- Keep sponsor marks on a solid sleeve or a solid back yoke
- Avoid stripes that match the number color exactly
- Give player names on the back a solid nameplate if the stripe is bold
- Check small sleeve numbers at full size, since stripes crowd them first
Popular stripe and color pairs
Most pinstripe orders use two or three colors. The pairs below are the ones we print most often for California teams.
Gold on black and white on navy read well under stadium lights. Navy on white and red on grey are the traditional daytime looks.
If your school colors are close in value, like navy and black, use one of them for the stripe and a third color for the numbers. Otherwise the jersey reads as one dark block from the stands.
Grey bodies need care. A light grey with a thin white stripe almost disappears, so we usually suggest a darker stripe on grey.
| Body | Stripe | Numbers | Feel |
|---|---|---|---|
| White | Navy | Navy with red outline | Classic home |
| Grey | Red | Red with navy outline | Throwback road |
| Black | Gold | Gold with white outline | Bold, high contrast |
| Navy | White | White with grey outline | Clean night-game look |
| Cream | Maroon | Maroon with cream outline | Vintage |
Full pinstripe uniforms
Most pinstripe orders include pants. Our custom pinstripe baseball pants are printed from the same stripe file, so the width and spacing match the jersey exactly rather than roughly.
The pants are 220 gsm polyester double-knit with a double knee. Stripes on pants run straight down the leg, and the side piping can pick up the stripe color.
A pinstripe jersey with solid pants is also a sharp look. It costs less to coordinate, because solid grey or white pants work with any stripe color.
Order the pants and jerseys together. Pants printed later can match the stripe file exactly, but ordering at once keeps the delivery in one box and the pieces in one discount tier.
Pricing
Pinstripes cost the same as a solid jersey. Names, numbers, logo and sponsor marks are included, with no setup, art or per-color fees.
Discounts apply to the total pieces in the cart, so jerseys and pants count together. A board weighing costs can send a roster through our quote request page for teams and get a written total.
| Pieces | Discount | Per jersey |
|---|---|---|
| 10 to 11 | Base | $32.99 |
| 12 to 23 | 5% | $31.34 |
| 24 to 47 | 10% | $29.69 |
| 48 to 99 | 15% | $28.04 |
| 100+ | 20% | $26.39 |
Programs that order pinstripes
Pinstripes suit teams that want a traditional look. High school varsity programs, adult wood-bat leagues and alumni games make up most of these orders.
For a school building a complete home and away set, our high school baseball uniform sets combine pinstripe homes with solid road jerseys on one proof.
Youth teams order them too, usually for a special event or an all-star roster. A hairline stripe on a two-button jersey suits small players better than a heavy chalk stripe.
Adult leagues often order pinstripes for a second, dressier jersey used on opening day and in playoffs. It counts toward the same tier as the regular game jersey when ordered together.
Retro and throwback builds
Pinstripes pair naturally with old-style details: a cream body, a fold-down collar, a block-letter wordmark and a sleeve stripe at the cuff.
If your team wants the full throwback treatment, the vintage and retro baseball jerseys page shows cream and grey bases with heritage lettering.
Cream bodies print slightly warmer than a screen shows. The proof is calibrated, but a physical sample is worth it on large orders.
Seeing a stripe before you commit
The proof is a scaled rendering of the front, back and sleeves. It shows the stripe path through every seam.
For orders of 24 or more, we can sew one physical sample first at the single-jersey price. That amount comes off the order when you go ahead. It is the best way to judge a hairline against a classic stripe in daylight.
Smaller teams can still check the stripe closely. Zoom into the proof at full size on a laptop, not a phone, and look at the side seams and the sleeve cuff.
Pinstripe Baseball Jerseys: questions answered
Do the pinstripes line up at the seams?
Yes. Every panel is cut on the stripe and matched on the table before sewing, so stripes run through the shoulder seam and down the sleeve. The proof shows the stripe path.
Can the stripe be a color other than navy?
Any color. Gold, red, sky blue, grey, green or a two-tone stripe all work, because the stripes are printed rather than woven.
How much do pinstripe jerseys cost?
From $32.99 per jersey at 10 pieces, names and numbers included. The price drops to $31.34 at 12 pieces and $26.39 at 100.
Which jersey cut works best with pinstripes?
Full-button is the classic choice for high school and adult teams. Two-button and V-neck pinstripes look sharper on youth teams because the chest print stays unbroken.
Will the stripes fade?
No. They are sublimated into the fiber, so the jersey wears like a solid-color jersey.
Can we put a large logo over the stripes?
Yes. We usually add a solid block or an outline behind the logo so it reads clearly against the stripes. The proof shows both options.
Do you make matching pinstripe pants?
Yes. They are printed from the same stripe file, so widths and spacing match the jersey.
Is there a minimum?
10 pieces, with mixed sizes and styles allowed.
How long is production?
2 to 3 weeks after you approve the proof and pay the PayPal invoice, then 2 to 5 business days of free shipping.
Can we see a stripe sample before ordering?
The proof is a scaled rendering. For orders of 24 or more, we can sew one physical sample first at the single-jersey price.
Can the stripes run on the sleeves too?
Yes. Stripes can continue down the sleeves or stop at a solid raglan sleeve in a trim color. Both cost the same.
Do pinstripes work in youth sizes?
Yes. The stripe width stays the same on youth sizes, so a YS and an adult XL look like one uniform. A hairline or classic stripe suits small jerseys best.
