Baseball Uniform Size Chart: Youth and Adult Jerseys, Pants and Socks
Updated 2026-10-17
Measurement charts for youth and adult baseball jerseys, pants and socks, with how to measure a player and how to size a whole roster without trying anything on.
How to measure
You need two numbers per player: chest and waist. Chest is measured around the fullest part with the arms relaxed, over a t-shirt. Waist is measured where the pants sit, usually just above the hip bone. A soft tape takes ten seconds per player; a coach can do a whole roster during warm-ups. If a player is between sizes, go up. Jerseys are meant to sit loose, and kids grow mid-season.
- A soft tape measure, not a metal one
- Measure over a t-shirt, not a hoodie
- Write chest and waist next to each player's name
- Round up when a number falls between sizes
Youth jerseys
| Size | Chest | Body length | Typical age |
|---|---|---|---|
| YS | 26–28 in | 20 in | 6–7 |
| YM | 28–30 in | 22 in | 8–9 |
| YL | 30–32 in | 24 in | 10–11 |
| YXL | 32–34 in | 26 in | 12–13 |
Adult jerseys
Women's-pattern jerseys use the same chest ranges one size down: a women's M fits a 36–38 inch chest with a shorter body. Mark "women's cut" in the order notes.
| Size | Chest | Body length |
|---|---|---|
| S | 36–38 in | 28 in |
| M | 39–41 in | 29 in |
| L | 42–44 in | 30 in |
| XL | 45–47 in | 31 in |
| 2XL | 48–50 in | 32 in |
| 3XL | 51–53 in | 33 in |
| 4XL | 54–56 in | 34 in |
Pants
Knickers end 2 inches below the knee regardless of size. Open-bottom pants are cut 2 inches longer than full-length so they break over the shoe.
| Size | Waist | Inseam (full length) |
|---|---|---|
| YS | 22–24 in | 20 in |
| YM | 24–26 in | 22 in |
| YL | 26–28 in | 24 in |
| YXL | 28–30 in | 26 in |
| S | 28–30 in | 29 in |
| M | 31–33 in | 30 in |
| L | 34–36 in | 31 in |
| XL | 37–39 in | 32 in |
| 2XL | 40–42 in | 33 in |
| 3XL | 43–45 in | 34 in |
Socks
Socks are knee-high and sized by shoe size. Players between sizes take the larger one.
| Sock size | Shoe size (US) |
|---|---|
| Youth | 13Y–4 |
| Adult M | 4–8 |
| Adult L | 8–12 |
| Adult XL | 12–15 |
Sizing a roster fast
If the team has not been measured, a reasonable default for 12U is YL/YXL jerseys and YL pants, and for adult rec it is L jerseys and M/L pants, adjusted for the players you know. For set pricing see the custom baseball uniforms page.
- Collect chest and waist for each player on one sheet.
- Assign jersey sizes from the chest chart, going up on ties.
- Assign pant sizes from the waist chart; check inseam only for very tall or short players.
- Add two spare jerseys per team in the two most common sizes.
- Send the sheet with the order; we check it against the proof and flag anything odd.
