Built for heat

Fresno, Bakersfield and the Inland Empire play a lot of baseball above 95°F. The V-neck pullover drops the placket weight and opens the collar.

It dries in about half the time of a cotton tee. Between innings, that is the difference between a wet jersey and a damp one.

Teams at Bakersfield summer tournaments often pair this cut with the 140 gsm lighter interlock. That costs nothing extra and takes a little more weight off.

Heat is also why the V-neck suits players who wear compression sleeves. There is no collar to trap warm air and no placket to press against the chest when a catcher squats.

  • Self-fabric V collar in a solid trim color or printed to match
  • Set-in or raglan sleeves
  • Optional mesh side panels
  • Straight hem, easy to wear out
  • Names, numbers, logo and sponsor marks included

How the V collar is made

The collar is a band of the same polyester interlock, folded and sewn into a V. It does not use a ribbed knit that curls after a few washes.

The depth of the V is scaled to each size. On youth sizes it stays shallow, so the opening looks modest on small players and nothing slips around during a slide.

You can print the collar in a solid trim color, in a stripe, or to continue the body pattern. A two-color collar, like navy with a thin gold edge, is printed in the same pass.

Most teams match the collar to the numbers. It ties the front and back together without adding another color to the design. A collar that matches nothing tends to look like a mistake in team photos.

Design ideas that work on a V-neck

Because there is no button line, the chest is one clean panel. Teams use that for arched team names, large single-color logos, or a full chest number.

Shoulder yokes in a second color, pinstriped sleeves against a solid body, and sublimated piping down the sides are the three most common requests we see on this cut.

You can sketch any of these on our Design Your Jerseys page and send it in. Our designers clean it up for the proof.

One thing to avoid is a wordmark that starts too high. The V cuts into the top of the chest, so letters placed for a crew neck can end up clipped by the collar.

  1. Pick the body color first. It sets the contrast for everything else.
  2. Choose a collar color that matches either the numbers or the sleeves.
  3. Decide whether the chest carries a name, a logo or a number.
  4. Add sleeve color or a pattern last, so it supports the chest.
  5. Check that names and numbers read clearly against the body.

Mesh side panels

Mesh inserts under the arms and down the sides come at no extra charge on the V-neck. They are 130 gsm micro-mesh and print in the same colors as the body.

They make most sense for catchers, pitchers and anyone wearing a chest protector. That is where heat builds first.

If you want mesh across the whole jersey, our full mesh baseball jerseys use 150 gsm open mesh for the body. It is cooler still but more see-through, so plan on an undershirt.

Mesh panels add no weight you will notice, and they do not change the size. The only thing they change is the look at the sides, which shows as a slightly different texture in the same color.

Fit and sizing

The fit is athletic but not tight. It sits close at the shoulders and relaxed through the body. Players who want a baggier look go one size up.

Youth XL is roughly an adult S in the chest, with a shorter body. Youth runs YS to YXL and adult runs S to 3XL in the same order.

Because the V-neck has no placket to hold its shape, a jersey that is too big looks sloppy fast. If a player is between sizes and wears it untucked, stay with the smaller size.

Measure chest width on a jersey the player already likes and compare it with our youth and adult size guide. That beats guessing from a T-shirt size, because tees run longer and looser.

Coaches and parents in the dugout can order from the same run. Adult 3XL fits most big frames comfortably over a T-shirt.

Team pricing

The price includes names, numbers, logo and sponsor marks. There are no setup, art or per-color fees, and mesh panels are included too.

The tier depends on total pieces in the cart. V-necks, pants and socks all count together.

A travel team of 14 players ordering one light and one dark V-neck each has 28 pieces, which lands at $29.69 a jersey. Teams building a full kit for the summer often start from our travel ball uniform sets, which add pants per player.

V-neck compared with other cuts

Coaches choosing between our pullovers usually narrow it down to three. This table shows how they differ in practice.

Our comparison of button-up, two-button and V-neck jerseys goes further, with notes on age groups and league rules.

Most coaches who pick the V-neck do it for comfort first. The second reason is design freedom, because the whole chest is available for a logo or a number.

League rules to check

V-neck pullovers are common in Little League, PONY, travel ball and adult leagues. Some high school sections require a collar or placket for varsity, so check your section rules before ordering.

If your league wants sleeves for every player but you still want the coolest option, the V-neck is the answer. Teams that are allowed vests sometimes go further with sleeveless baseball jerseys over a sleeve shirt.

Pitchers are the most common question. A pitcher in a V-neck usually wears a solid undershirt so sleeves and the V do not distract the batter. Ask your umpire-in-chief if your league has a color rule.

Sets and reorders

Pair the V-neck with matching custom baseball pants or order it alone as a second jersey for away games. Artwork stays on file, so reorders for new players use the same proof.

Reorders still need 10 pieces. If you expect a few new players in June, add two or three spares in common sizes now.

Some programs keep the V-neck as a summer jersey and a button-up for spring. Same colors, same logo file, two cuts. Our designers can match them on one proof.

When you reorder, send the number and size of each new player. We pull the original file, so the new jerseys match the rest of the roster.

Before you approve the proof

The V-neck is simple, which makes small mistakes easy to spot once you know where to look.

If anything looks off, reply to the proof email with a short note. Revisions are free and there is no limit on rounds.

  • The top of the chest wordmark sits at least an inch below the point of the V
  • Collar color matches either the numbers or the sleeves, not a third new color
  • Mesh panels, if you chose them, are on the proof
  • White names have an outline if the body is light grey
  • Sizes are marked youth or adult for every player
  • Sleeve sponsor marks are the right way up when the arm hangs down
  • No two players on one team share a number

Care in hot-weather seasons

Sublimated color is bonded into the polyester fibers, so it does not fade, crack or peel. Wash cold, then hang dry or tumble low.

In summer, wash the jersey the same day if you can. Sweat and sunscreen left in a bag overnight stain the collar band first. Unzip the bag in the car on the way home and let the jerseys air out.

Skip fabric softener. It coats the polyester and slows the wicking that makes this jersey worth wearing in the heat. A cold rinse is enough between back-to-back game days.

V-Neck Baseball Jerseys: questions answered

Is a V-neck jersey legal for league play?

Yes, in most youth and adult leagues. Some high school sections require a collar or placket for varsity, so check your section rules first.

How much does a custom V-neck jersey cost?

$32.99 per jersey for 10 or 11 pieces, with names, numbers and logo included. A 24-piece order brings it to $29.69, and 48 pieces to $28.04.

Can we have mesh side panels?

Yes. Micro-mesh inserts under the arms and down the sides come at no extra charge on the V-neck and print in the body colors.

What is the fit like?

Athletic but not tight. It sits close at the shoulders and relaxed through the body, and players who want a baggier look go one size up.

Do the colors fade?

No. Sublimated color is bonded into the polyester, so it does not fade, crack or peel.

Can we mix V-neck and button-up jerseys in one order?

Yes. Any mix of styles counts toward the 10-piece minimum and the same discount tier.

How do youth sizes compare to adult?

Youth XL is roughly an adult S in the chest, with a shorter body. Our size guide lists chest and length for every size.

What file types do you need for the logo?

Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) are best. A clean PNG or JPG works too, and we redraw small or blurry logos at no charge.

Is there a setup or art fee?

No. Design, proofing and revisions are free.

How do we pay?

By PayPal invoice after you approve the proof. We accept PayPal, and nothing is charged at checkout.

Does the V-neck show much of the undershirt?

A little at the point of the V, which is why most teams wear an undershirt in the trim color. The opening is scaled to each size, so youth jerseys stay modest.

Is the lighter 140 gsm fabric available on the V-neck?

Yes, at the same price. Most summer travel teams choose it, while spring and coastal teams usually stay with 160 gsm.
